A spiritual solution to leadership in crisis

As one interested in mind/body science, I’ve always enjoyed reading Deepak Chopra. Today one of my friends on Facebook drew my attention to a recent interview about his views on leadership.
Here’s an excerpt that caught my eye, where  he talks about the foundation of leadership as a spiritual quest….

“The more expanded your awareness is, the more you can see yourself as part of the web of relationships that constitute life, then the more contextually you see things, the more you are likely to have intuitive and creative and visionary and sacred responses instead of the fight/flight or reactive response that we see amongst our leaders today.”

Chopra says that most leadership is a function of fight/flight or reactive ego responses, because leaders have not been taught to respond from a higher or soul level. “Our educational system does not nurture the psychological, emotional and spiritual development of children or human beings so that studies show that the average male in most societies stops growing emotionally after the age of fourteen.”

Excerpt of an interview of Deepak Chopra by Mandy de Waal.

About Carole Brown, Learning Coach and Repatterning Practitioner

My early days as a biologist and my career as a leadership consultant and learning coach have largely influenced the work I do now. I am attracted to many different spheres of knowledge and wisdom, especially those that are on the cutting edge and relate to the processes underlying change. "Resonance Repatterning" is an energetic approach to transforming our patterns and moving beyond the blocks that keep us from reaching our highest self. It is a stunning process that gets right to the core and elegantly identifies what needs to be transformed. I first studied RR in 2000 before we had quantum physicists explaining the basis for energy work. Now we have the science, there's every reason to embrace this evolutionary approach to change and growth and use it to explore how to become your best self.

I couldn’t agree more! There goes another confirmation to my old idea of creating a School of Presidents. Like doctors go to school, and podiatrists and gardeners… you get the idea? The School of Presidents would teach religions of the world, conflict management, develop self awareness, negotiation, anthropological geography, team work…
